Thiruvanathapuram: Vizhinjam has officially become the name of the port, and the chief minister has unveiled its logo. The prestigious project will now be known as Vizhinjam International Seaports Thiruvananthapuram. There was a strong demand to include both ‘Thiruvananthapuram’ and ‘Vizhinjam’ in the port’s name, considering the opinions expressed, and the naming decision was made accordingly.
The logo design aims to explore international branding possibilities. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan stated that the goal is to establish Vizhinjam as the best port in the country. Although the venue was dissatisfied with the omission of the MLA and MP from the invitation list, MLA M. Vincent still attended to announce the name.
The mothership, departing from China, is scheduled to anchor at Vizhinjam on October 4th. It will be the first ship to arrive at Vizhinjam. The mothership carries cranes for port operations.
