KOTTAYAM: It has been reported that during a police shooting training session, a bullet penetrated a neighbor’s house. A school student had a narrow escape when the bullet pierced the window of her house during a district police shooting training session in Nattakom on Saturday.
The incident occurred around 10:45 a.m. while the training was in progress on a small ground adjacent to Government Polytechnic College Nattakom of Kottayam district.
In the midst of the training, one bullet fired by the police penetrated a nearby house where Ernakulam native EA Sony and his family reside. During the incident, Sony’s daughters, Alka and Atmika, were inside the house. Sony, a mechanic, was at his mechanic shop at the time.
Alka, who heard the noise while studying in her room, promptly informed her mother about the situation. Following this, they inspected the room and discovered the bullet, which had shattered the window pane.
Subsequently, the family notified the Chingavanam Police, who arrived at the house and conducted an inspection of the area. The police stated that the bullet had initially struck a rock, rebounded, and then shattered the window.
The family lodged a complaint, expressing concern that the shooting training had been taking place in the area for the past few days without the permission of the locals and called for it to be halted.
