Srinagar: The long-awaited restoration of Regenya Mata Temple in Budgam district, Kashmir, has finally begun after a hiatus of 32 years. Spearheaded by the dedicated supervision of Budgam Deputy Commissioner Akshay Labroo, the comprehensive rejuvenation efforts are in full swing. Authorities have underscored that their mission extends beyond the temple’s beautification, aiming to encompass the holistic development of the surrounding area.

Kashmiri Pandits hailing from various parts of the country recently congregated at the temple to conduct the sacred Maha Yagya ritual. This collective endeavour marked the commencement of restoration work at the temple, which had languished in neglect for more than three decades. The temple had fallen into disrepair as Kashmiri Pandits vacated the region due to threats from extremist groups.

Remarkably, upon their return to perform the puja after a 32-year hiatus, the local Muslim community in the vicinity extended their wholehearted cooperation, exemplifying the spirit of unity and harmony. Concurrently, restoration efforts are also underway at the Charar-i-Sharif shrine.
