Thiruvananthapuram: In response to an orange alert issued by the India Meteorological Department and the State Disaster Management Authority, District Collector Geromick George has declared a temporary ban on entry to all beaches in the district until further notice. The precautionary measure has been implemented due to ongoing heavy rains, warranting heightened safety measures.

District Collector Geromick George also issued directives for the immediate removal of accumulated garbage beneath the Vizhinjam  Harbour footbridge. Prompt action was instructed to clear a fallen tree that blocks the Thettiyar stream at Karimanal.

Considering the current weather conditions, a holiday was declared for all educational institutions, including professional colleges, in the capital today. The move is part of a precautionary approach to ensure the safety of students and residents in light of the unpredictable weather.

Monsoon currently exhibits weakened conditions across the state. Dry weather is anticipated in the coming days. However, Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam districts may still experience rainfall today. Looking ahead, there are indications of a possible reversal of the monsoon in the coming weeks.
