Ernakulam: A police officer who was not ready to file a case against a suspect involved in car fraud has been suspended. Palarivattam Station House Officer (SHO) Joseph Sajan did not register the case of a fraud related to ‘used car’. Following this, the SHO was suspended pending an investigation. It was discovered that he had a prior acquaintance with the main accused in the case, leading to his reluctance to pursue the matter.
Upon the Palarivattam SHO’s refusal to take up the case, the complainant sought assistance from the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP). As a result, a special investigation team was formed, leading to the arrest of the accused.
The fraudulent activities of the gang took place under the façade of a used car showroom located in Alinchuvadu, Palarivattom. The proprietor of this showroom is SS Amal, a resident of Thiruvananthapuram. The gang’s modus operandi involves coercing vehicle owners, who entrust their cars for sale, only for the gang to resell them.
