Ernakulam: Kerala Blasters FC, the popular Indian Super League (ISL) team, has not paid even a single rupee to the Kerala Police for providing security. They have to pay over 1.34 crore rupees for security services provided during matches from 2016 to 2019.
In response to the pending dues, the Chief of Police has dispatched a letter to the club, specifically addressed to Viren D’Silva, the CEO of Kerala Blasters FC. The letter outlines that an amount of Rs. 1,34,20,415 is due to the Kerala Police and emphasizes the necessity of immediate payment. For each match held in Kochi, Kerala Blasters FC relies on the support of 650 police personnel to ensure security. This includes crowd control, safety measures, and other security-related duties. The issue of unpaid dues had been raised before the last match.
Despite receiving formal communication from the Kerala Police, Kerala Blasters FC has not responded to the matter. The club had previously sought to have the amount written off, but the government rejected this request. The Kerala Police has now urged Kerala Blasters to remit the outstanding amount through a check or demand draft without further delay.
