Suresh Gopi extends helping hand to differently-abled person who was denied government pension

Kollam: BJP leader and actor Suresh Gopi has stepped forward to assist a differently-abled individual who was denied a welfare pension by the government. SR Manidas, a resident of Paravur in Kollam district, found a helping hand from Suresh Gopi. Suresh Gopi has provided financial assistance of one lakh rupees to the family and is also guaranteed to offer an additional one lakh rupees if necessary.

This act comes in response to the government’s decision to discontinue Manidas’s welfare pension, citing an annual income exceeding one lakh rupees. The pension was crucial for him to buy medicines.

Suresh Gopi has not only fulfilled the government’s stipulated one lakh rupee repayment but has also expressed his readiness to cover the amount for the next 10 years. He had stated that he would personally meet Manidas to offer his support.

Following the pension denial, the Finance Department issued an order to reimburse the entire sum of pension disbursed over the past thirteen years.

Manidas, a 27-year-old individual affected by Down syndrome, has an 80 percent mental disability along with other health challenges. His sole dependents are his elderly parents, both over 70 years of age. They rely solely on the pension received by his mother, who previously worked as a tailoring teacher in a government school.
