Thiruvananthapuram: The state government has opted to maintain the electricity surcharge at Rs. 19 paise per unit for the upcoming month. This decision has been communicated by the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB). KSEB has increased Rs. 10 paise per unit for electricity on top of the Rs. 9 paise approved by the Regulatory Commission.
The notification from KSEB has raised concerns among consumers, as the additional cost incurred for purchasing electricity from external sources until October will be collected from the public next month. The accumulated additional cost amounts to a staggering Rs. 85.05 crore.
