Thiruvananthapuram: During the inauguration of the Stree Shakti Sangamam, organised by the Mahila Samanwaya Vedi Thiruvananthapuram district unit, Dr. Bharati Pravin Pawar, the Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, highlighted the strides made by women in the country. Praising the global recognition received by Kerala’s healthcare professionals, including nurses, Dr. Pawar expressed pride in their achievements.
As part of the event, talented women were honoured for their contributions. Notable individuals such as former Director of Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology (SCTIMST), Asha Kishore; ex-director of Chempazhanthy Sree Narayana Guru International Study Centre, Dr. B Sugeetha; Director of PRS Hospital, Priya Balan; Parappi Amma, a tribal farmer renowned for cultivating the rare “Makkal Valarthi” pineapple variety (Koonthani); and roller skating star Archa received accolades for their achievements.
The ceremonial lighting of the lamp was conducted by Padma Shri Lakshmikutty Amma. Dr. V Thankamani assumed the presidency of Stree Shakti Sangamam, while Mahila Sangh Vedi State Convener, Adv. Anjanadevi, presented a paper during the gathering.
Eminent personalities such as Pathanamthitta Rishi Jnana Sadhanalayam Sreesanthanandamatham Swamini Devi Jnanabha Nishtananda Giri, District Coordinator Dr. V Sujatha, Streeshakti Sangamam General Convener Neelima R. Kurup, Treasurer VV Laxmipriya, and several others participated.
