Chennai:  As the 2024 IPL season approaches, fans are anxious about Dhoni’s potential retirement and speculating on who might replace the iconic “Captain Cool” to lead the team after his retirement. Chennai Super Kings (CSK),is  a team with an impressive five-time Indian Premier League (IPL) title record, secured victory in the 2023 season under the captaincy of MS Dhoni

However, alleviating some of these concerns, former South African captain AB de Villiers expressed optimism regarding Dhoni’s future in the IPL. According to de Villiers, Dhoni is set to continue playing in the IPL for three more seasons. The announcement comes as a relief for fans who hold Dhoni in high regard for his leadership and cricketing prowess.

AB de Villiers, sharing his thoughts on his YouTube channel, expressed happiness at seeing Dhoni’s name on the retained players’ list. De Villiers conveyed his belief that Dhoni’s presence will continue to grace Chennai’s IPL campaigns for the next three years.

Recalling the history of Dhoni’s association with the Chennai Super Kings, the veteran cricketer was acquired by the team in 2008 for Rs 6 crore. Since then, Dhoni has led the team to five IPL titles and holds the record for the most match wins (113) in the history of the tournament for Chennai.
