Decision pending on Aravana stockpiles disposal at Sabarimala despite court permission

Pathanamthitta: Public sector organisations are reaching out to the Devaswom board with proposals to undertake the contract for the disposal of Aravana stockpiles at Sabarimala. Various ideas for the destruction of Aravana  stockpiles are under consideration. However, there are reports suggesting that the Devaswom board has yet to reach a decision on giving the contract. The final decision is expected to be made during the discussions scheduled for the next day.

A total of 6.65 lakh  stockpiles of Aravana are currently stored in Sannidhanam. The sale of these tins was prohibited by the Kerala High Court following the discovery of pesticides in cardamom. Subsequently, the Supreme Court granted permission to dispose of Aravana  stockpiles. However, uncertainty persists regarding the method of disposal. Initially, there was a plan to destroy the Aravana within the Sabarimala forest itself. When this plan did not materialise, the Devasam Board informed Hindustan Latex Limited, a public sector company, about the situation. Hindustan Latex Limited has put forward the idea of bringing in a special machine to separate and destroy Aravana  stockpiles in Sannidhanam.

Meanwhile, the company that is conducting garbage disposal in Guruvayur temple has also approached the board. But this company says that they can take over the Aravana stockpiles if they deliver them to Pampa.
