Kozhikode: Ration distribution in the state has come to a halt. The choice to halt the distribution of rations is due to the unpaid commissions owed to ration traders. Although this issue has reportedly been brought up during the Navakerala Sadas program, a solution has not been implemented. The interruption will impact the distribution of rice to blue and white cardholders and ‘Atta’ to yellow and pink cardholders.
Shopkeepers emphasize that they will refrain from supplying rice and other ration items until the pending commission amount is fully settled. The General Secretary of the Ration Dealers Association expresses concern, stating that traders face significant challenges if the owed funds are not received on time.
Ration shop owners have taken the matter to the High Court regarding the outstanding commission amount. The dispute revolves around the non-receipt of commissions for the months of October and November, prompting shopkeepers to adopt stringent measures.
