Pathanamthitta: More than ten thousand devotees gathered at Sabarimala, posing a significant challenge for authorities in crowd management. As a result, many devotees faced difficulties for having darshan.
The increase in the number of devotees led to crowded sidewalks and long lines. Even those who started climbing the mountain from Pampa at six in the morning the day before couldn’t finish their darshan.
Despite the installation of the queue complex (a Tirupati model queue), located between Marakoottam and Saramkuthi, to handle the overcrowd, the current situation remains challenging. The 18 halls that had been unused for eight years, was brought into operation to help regulate the flow of devotees.
The devotees were required to stand in lines for hours. Despite efforts to utilise additional facilities, including the previously unused halls in the queue complex, the challenges persist.
