Thiruvananthapuram: A youth has been apprehended for attempting to extort money by promising visas to foreign countries. Sivaprasad, a resident of Malayinkeezh , Kattakkada, was arrested for extorting Rs. 12 lakhs from three individuals.
The incident took place in 2021 when he offered visas to countries such as Canada, Germany, and Australia to three youths from Pozhiyoor. Approximately 12 lakhs rupees were extorted from them.
After taking the money, he fled abroad. Subsequently, the victims lodged a complaint with the police. Following an investigation prompted by the complaint, the accused was arrested. Authorities mentioned that several other individuals have also fallen victim to Sivaprasad’s fraudulent activities.
