Alappuzha: The distribution of bread at Alappuzha Medical College has come to a halt as the ‘Modern’ company suspended supplies owing to non-payment of dues, amounting to Rs. 20 lakhs, by the government. This decision has left patients and attendants in concern as the morning breakfast provision has ceased.
Meanwhile, the government also owes a substantial sum of Rs. 15 lakhs to the ‘Milma’ company, which supplies milk to the medical college. Milma has issued a warning, stating that ‘unless the payment is settled completely, the supply of milk will be immediately discontinued’.
The halt in bread supply at Alappuzha Medical College Hospital has worsened the situation for financially struggling individuals, as these essential items were their primary source of food at the medical college. The funds allocated by the government for the provision of bread and milk have reportedly ceased due to the prevailing financial crisis in the state.
