Ernakulam: The High Court has issued guidelines to control crowd at Sabarimala in response to a Suo Moto case. The court directive emphasises that areas designated for 100 people should not be crowded with 200 individuals and underscores the need for proper care of those standing in queues. Additionally, the court reiterated that individuals without virtual queues or spot-booking tickets should not be allowed to enter.

Addressing the issue of virtual queue booking limits, the High Court recommended that the virtual queue limit should be set at 80,000 and spot bookings be limited to 5,000 or 10,000. The directive also includes a mandate for cleanliness in queuing complexes and relaxing areas for 24 hours. For this, the court was also directed to appoint the necessary staff for this purpose.

Furthermore, the High Court instructed the police to arrange additional empty buses from Nilakkal to Pampa and ensure necessary facilities for the pilgrims. There is also a call to reduce spot booking, with the court directing the Devaswom Board to limit spot booking to 10,000 on days when virtual queue bookings reach 80,000.
