Thiruvananthapuram: At least 10 people were injured in the accident that took place during the Christmas crib exhibition as part of the Christmas celebration. The cause of the accident was the collapse of the temporary wooden bridge leading to the exhibition city at Puthankada, Neyyatinkara.
Under the leadership of Thirupuram Gram Panchayat, a Christmas crib competition was held at Puruthivila Bypass Junction. A temporary wooden bridge was built for this purpose. However, when more people climbed on the bridge than allowed, it could not support the weight, resulting in the bridge partially collapsing.
The fire brigade and police arrived at the spot and shifted the injured to the hospital. They were admitted to Neyyattinkara Taluk Hospital and MIMS Hospital. Two people sustained serious injuries. They may be transferred to Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital.
