Pothencode: The mother of the deceased 36-day-old baby confessed to the police of killing her child. The infant was found dead inside a well. Surita, the baby’s mother told the police that she took this drastic step due to financial difficulties, making it difficult for her to care for the child.

The baby was born underweight. The child was also diagnosed with kidney disease. The mother gave a statement to the police that she was not in a position to carry out further treatment for the child or raise the child well. Surita stated this as the reason for murdering her infant. The couple also has an older child. She told police that she was unable to raise both children. Surita also said that she thought that everyone would suspect that someone from outside entered the house through the back door and took the child away.

36-day-old Sridev born to the couple Surita and Saji was found dead in a well this morning. The baby, who was sleeping with his mother, went missing at two in the morning today. When the mother informed that the child was missing, the locals rushed to inform the police. During the investigation conducted by the police, the baby’s towel was found above the well in the house. During the subsequent search, the baby was found in the well.
