New Delhi: Three IPS officers from the Manipur cadre have been appointed as chiefs of central paramilitary forces. The appointments include the astute Intelligence Bureau officer Rahul Rasgotra, who will take charge of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), and Nina Singh, who creates history as the first woman to lead the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). Additionally, Anish Dayal Singh, the current ITBP chief, has been appointed as the Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).

Nina Singh, the trailblazing IPS officer, began her career as the first woman officer allocated to the Rajasthan cadre, where she handled crucial assignments across the state. Her impressive track record includes serving as Joint Director in the CBI from 2013 to 2018, overseeing numerous high-profile cases with national and international implications.

Anish Dayal Singh, a seasoned IPS officer from the 1988 batch, has been holding the additional charge of the CRPF since the retirement of S L Thaosen on November 30. Singh, who heads the Home Ministry’s committee investigating the Parliament security breach on December 13, previously served in the Intelligence Bureau (IB) before joining the ITBP.

Rahul Rasgotra, presently a special director in the IB, is set to take over as the new chief of the ITBP, succeeding Singh. Rasgotra played a pivotal role in reshaping the Multi-Agency Centre (MAC), a crucial counter-terrorism grid, following the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack, during his tenure in Jammu and Kashmir.
