New Delhi: The French government has announced the initiation of international classes for Indian students, aiming to facilitate their learning of the French language before pursuing higher education. The programme is open to undergraduate and higher secondary students specialising in engineering, management, sciences, humanities, and the arts.

These classes are designed to assist students in various educational pursuits, including gaining admission to French higher education institutions. The French Embassy will offer scholarships to outstanding students, and applications can be submitted through the website www.classesinternationales.org until March 31, 2024. The classes are scheduled to commence in September 2024.

French President Emmanuel Macron has expressed the target of enrolling 30,000 Indian students in French universities by the year 2030. He underscored France’s commitment to providing Indian students with a broader array of opportunities. Bharat currently stands as the largest recipient of French academic scholarships, and a five-year short-term Schengen visa has been introduced for programme alumni.

The establishment of such a programme was proposed during French President Emmanuel Macron’s visit to Bharat for Republic Day celebrations. According to the French Embassy, the project aims to offer Indian students access to the diverse educational opportunities available in France.
