Thiruvananthapuram: The police have taken into custody a fake acupuncture practitioner, Shihabudheen, a native of Venjaramoodu, in connection with the death of a woman and her newborn baby during a home birth. Shihabudheen was arrested on non-bailable charges.
The investigation into the case led to the arrest of the woman’s husband, Nayas, by the Nemom police last day. Nayas faces charges of involuntary manslaughter and causing the death of an unborn child.
The incident occurred last Tuesday when Shameera, Nayas’s wife and a native of Palakkad, tragically passed away after opting for a home birth. The primary cause of her death was determined to be excessive bleeding following childbirth.
