Thiruvananthapuram : In the case of attempt to murder Akhil in the University College, Akshay (19) is charged as the 12th accused and has been arrested from Peringamala Kalliyoor Shantini Bhavan.
Akshay was arrested from his house by a team led by CIG Anil Kumar. The number of accused in the case has reached seven. Akshay is a member of the SFI unit of the University College.
The arrests of SFI leaders R Sivaranjith, NA Naseem, SFI unit members Adeet, Aromal S Nair, Adil Mohammed and Ijab have already been recorded. Except Ijab, all others had surrendered directly to the police.
Meanwhile, Pranav, the second rank in the PSC Police Constable Rank List, was also included in the attempted Akhil murder case. Pranav is the 17th accused in the case. Sivaranjith is the first accused, who also secured first position in the rank list. The second accused, Naseem, is the 24th rank holder.
After obtaining answer sheets from Sivaranjith’s house, police have come to the conclusion that Pranav too was involved in the answer paper scam.
