Elon Musk the current CEO of twitter took it to his own twitter space to announce his transition from CEO to Chief Technology Officer and that a new person will take over his place in six weeks.
He specified that he will focus more on overseeing the product, software and sysops of the company, transitioning to the role of an executive chair and CTO.
Media reports said that even though an official confirmation was not released on who will be the new CEO, rumours surface that NBC Chairman Linda Yaccarino will be taking up this role, though she too has not responded to any such claims.
Linda Yaccarino is the current chairman for advertising and partnerships for NBCUniversal. She has served in various different leadership roles with NBC for more than two decades.
The transition of Musk from CEO status has sparked a large line of debate and memes on who will lead the company, even some going as far to circulate gender swapped pictures of Musk himself.
Twitter was bought by Elon Musk last year for $44 billion, after which he fired around 75% of the twitter workforce including top officials like ex-CEO Parag Agarwal. In India itself twitter had fired almost 90% employees working under them.
Musk also introduced various changes to the platform itself, even changing the blue tick verification system to be available as a paid subscription.
