Srinagar: The Indian Army has initiated a specialized scholarship program aimed at enhancing educational opportunities for underprivileged students in Jammu and Kashmir. The Army extends its support to students through the “Operation Sadbhavana” scholarship program. As per the army’s statement, 146 students from diverse districts of Jammu and Kashmir have already been chosen to receive financial aid of Rs 1.2 lakh each for their education.

The program’s objective is to identify financially disadvantaged yet academically dedicated students and support them in fulfilling their educational aspirations by providing financial assistance. The universities will cover the expenses of graduate studies for the succeeding students. The Army also announced that students have the option to pursue higher education at 12 affiliated universities.

Over 100 students from Kupwara district have submitted their scholarship applications. Out of these applicants, 34 children were chosen through a combination of a written test and an interview. They were subsequently honored during the ‘Send Off’ program held at Durgmulla. The official statement highlighted that the project’s objective is to foster self-reliance in India by empowering economically disadvantaged students.
