Kolkata: Indian film industry mourns the loss of the celebrated Bengali actress, Sreela Majumdar, who breathed her last at the age of 65 in her residence in Kolkata. The actress had been battling cancer for the last three years. She left behind her husband and son.

Sreela Majumdar’s career spanned 43 films, collaborating with popular directors like Mrinal Sen, Shyam Benegal, and Prakash Jha. Her notable performances in widely acclaimed films such as “Ek Din Pratidin,” “Kharij,” and “Akaler Sandhane,” all directed by Mrinal Sen, earned her widespread recognition.

Her final cinematic appearance was in the movie “Palan,” released last year. Sreela Majumdar’s contribution to the film industry also extended beyond acting, as she lent her voice to Aishwarya Rai in “Chokher Bali,” a film directed by  Rituparno Ghosh.
