Global icon Tom Cruise is due to return to the big screen shortly, and the new MI7 trailer promises nothing less than an action-packed journey of a lifetime. Cruise is reprising his role as IMF spy Ethan Hunt in a two-part sequel to the Mission Impossible franchise.
This time, Ethan Hunt and his IMF team set out on a perilous mission to locate a frightening weapon that threatens mankind before it gets into the hands of the wrong people. Hunt must track down various past and present connections from his life. Even putting his own life and the lives of people he cares about in danger to complete the mission.
The journey of Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt began in the first ever film, Mission: Impossible, released in 1996. The film itself was adapted from a 1960s TV show of the same name and managed to become a global success and thriving franchise. But like always, all good things come to an end, so it is expected that Mission: Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part Two will be the final outing of Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt, with both films serving as a farewell for the actor.
Aside from Cruise, the picture will star Hayley Atwell and Esai Morales in prominent roles, with Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, and Ving Rhames reprising their roles from past films. Christopher McQuarrie, who has worked with Cruise on famous projects such as MI5, MI6, and Jack Reacher, directs the picture. He and Cruise will also co-produce the movie.
The spy thriller will be released on July 12, 2022, marking Tom Cruise’s return following Top Gun: Maverick in 2022.
