Following the immense success of the film “The Kerala Story,” director Sudipto Sen is teaming up with producer Sandeep Singh for their next project, titled ‘Saharasri.’ The film will delve into the life of renowned business tycoon and founder of Sahara India Pariwar, Subrata Roy.
To coincide with Subrata Roy’s 75th birthday on June 10, the filmmakers have chosen this occasion to officially announce their upcoming venture, centred on the extraordinary journey of the business magnate. The film will be co-produced by Dr. Jayantilal Gada of PEN Studios, with the music composed by the legendary A R Rahman and lyrics penned by Gulzar. Principal photography for the film is set to commence early next year, with extensive shooting planned in Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Bihar, Kolkata, and London.
When questioned about the project, director Sudipto Sen expressed his excitement, stating, “Directing a biopic is always a challenging job for any filmmaker. Having AR Rahman, Gulzar, Sandeep Singh, and Dr. Jayantilal Gada together for a film is something beyond big.”
Subrata Roy, the founder and chairman of Sahara India Pariwar, is a prominent figure who transformed a struggling financial company into a thriving conglomerate in India. His visionary leadership has led Sahara India Pariwar to expand its interests across diverse sectors such as financial services, tourism, media, healthcare, and more.
Apart from his achievements in the business world, Subrata Roy is also recognized for his extensive humanitarian efforts. He has actively contributed to relief operations following the devastating Uttarakhand flood, providing aid and support to those affected by the natural disaster. Additionally, Roy has demonstrated his commitment to the welfare of the nation by offering financial assistance to the families of the martyrs of the Kargil War, a noble gesture that received commendation from India’s former Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
While the announcement of the film has garnered significant attention, details regarding the lead actor who will portray Subrata Roy are yet to be finalised. Speculations are rife that a top actor will step into the shoes of the business tycoon, and further information regarding this casting decision is anticipated to be unveiled in the near future.
