Chennai: Chandramukhi 2, directed by P Vasu, has been generating immense anticipation among audiences for its release in 2023. With the recent completion of the film’s shooting, the makers dropped a significant hint by unveiling Kangana and Raghava Lawrence’s first look poster on June 30. Kangana Ranaut, who plays a pivotal role in the movie, took to Instagram to share the poster.

Chandramukhi 2 serves as a sequel to the 2006 Tamil film Chandramukhi, which was itself a remake of the blockbuster Malayalam movie Manichitrathazhu. The film was announced in 2021 and commenced filming in the middle of 2022. After an extensive shooting schedule, the production wrapped up in June. Kangana Ranaut, in her Instagram post, unveiled Raghava’s first-look poster, adding to the excitement surrounding the film.

The release of Chandramukhi 2 is scheduled for Ganesh Chaturthi, observed on September 19. The movie is helmed by actor-director P Vasu, who also directed the prequel featuring Rajinikanth and Jyothika in lead roles. In Chandramukhi 2, Kangana Ranaut will portray the character of a dancer in the king’s court, renowned for her beauty and dance skills. The film, produced by Lyca Productions and Subaskaran, is set to release in September in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada.

Meanwhile, Kangana Ranaut’s upcoming drama film, Emergency, focuses on the life of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, focusing on her actions during the terrible atmosphere India had during the period of emergency from 1975–1977, with Kangana portraying the titular role of the late politician. The movie is scheduled for theatrical release on November 24, 2023. Kangana recently unveiled the official teaser of the film on her Instagram, captioning it, “A protector or a Dictator? Witness the darkest phase of our history when the leader of our nation declared a war on its people. #Emergency releasing worldwide on 24th November.” This film also marks Kangana’s solo directorial debut.

Apart from Kangana Ranaut, Emergency also features Anupam Kher, Mahima Chaudhry, Vishak Nair, and Shreyas Talpade in prominent roles, adding to the cast of the highly anticipated movie.
