Fatorda, Goa: Indian Super League (ISL) club FC Goa has made a major signing ahead of the 2023-24 season by securing the services of distinguished Spanish defender Odie Onaindia. The experienced footballer has inked a one-year deal with the Gaurs, adding depth and skill to the team’s defensive lineup.
Onaindia is already familiar with Indian football, having previously played in the country during the 2020-21 season for Hyderabad FC under the leadership of then-head coach Manolo Marques. The defender returned to India last year and performed admirably for his team, securing a second-place finish in the league.
Now, the 33-year-old Spanish player is set to reunite with Manolo Marques once again, this time at FC Goa. The club has been actively strengthening its squad, and Onaindia’s signing is another step in that direction. He joins a list of impressive additions to the Gaurs’ roster this summer, including Rowling Borges, Udanta Singh, Sandesh Jingam, Boris Singh, and Raynier Fernandes. The club has also made foreign signings in the form of Paul Reter and Carlos Martinez.
