As temperatures soar above 40 degrees in many areas, the risk of sunburns and heat-related illnesses escalates, underscoring the importance of safeguarding one’s health during the scorching summer months. Here are some vital tips to keep in mind for staying safe:

Stay hydrated

Ensure adequate hydration by drinking plenty of fresh water throughout the day. Hydration is important for regulating body temperature.

Incorporate fruits into your diet

Eating fruits and vegetables high in water content, such as oranges and watermelons, can help to prevent dehydration. Make it a habit to include these refreshing options in your diet.

Limit alcohol consumption

Alcohol consumption causes dehydration by causing the body to lose water more rapidly. Minimise alcohol intake during the summer months to maintain hydration levels.

Choose breathable clothing

Opt for lightweight, breathable fabrics like cotton when dressing for hot weather. Avoid materials like silk and polyester, which can trap heat and cause discomfort.

Opt for light-coloured attire

Dark-coloured clothing absorbs more heat, making you feel warmer. Choose light-coloured garments to reflect sunlight and help keep your body temperature down.
