Edgbaston, England – The third day of the gripping test match between England and Australia at Edgbaston was marred by rain interruptions, but it didn’t dampen the excitement as wickets tumbled and England closed in on a lead of 35 runs with eight wickets remaining. The game hangs in the balance as both teams look to seize control on Day 4.

In the first innings, England posted a respectable total of 393 runs before declaring. The Australian batsmen came out swinging and managed to accumulate 386 runs, falling just short of their opponent’s total. As England began their second innings, they carried a lead of seven runs, and they have now extended it to 35 runs by the end of Day 3.

One of the standout performers for Australia was Alex Carey, who displayed exceptional batting skills, scoring a fluent 66 runs off 99 balls. His partnership with Khawaja proved to be pivotal, creating a substantial platform for the Australian team. However, the English bowling attack fought back strongly, with Stuart Broad and Ollie Robinson leading the charge by claiming three wickets each. Spinner Moeen Ali also made a significant contribution, taking two wickets and bowling four maiden overs during his spell of 33 overs.

Rain interruptions disrupted the flow of play on the third day, adding an element of uncertainty to the match. Despite the challenging conditions, England managed to hold their ground and make steady progress, closing the day on 28 runs for the loss of two wickets. The England batsmen will now look to consolidate their lead and build a substantial total on Day 4, while Australia will be determined to make quick inroads and turn the tide in their favour.
