Odisha FC, an Indian professional football club, has announced the departure of their successful coach, Clifford Miranda, who led the team to victory in the Hero Super Cup. In the same statement, the club also revealed the appointment of Floyd Pinto as the new assistant coach.

Clifford Miranda took charge as the interim head coach of Odisha FC at the end of the season following the departure of Josep Gombau. Under Miranda’s guidance, the team achieved remarkable success, winning the Hero Super Cup and securing a spot in the AFC Cup Group Stage for the first time in the club’s history. Miranda played a crucial role in the team’s journey to the knockout stages of the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) as well.

Expressing gratitude for Miranda’s significant contributions, Odisha FC acknowledged his immense role in the club’s growth and success during the 2022–2023 season. The club’s official statement on their website mentioned, “Despite being offered an elevated position within the club, Clifford has chosen to pursue a different journey and new challenges. We wish him well always!”

Miranda, who joined Odisha FC as an assistant coach from FC Goa prior to the 2022–23 campaign, proved his coaching prowess by galvanising the team and leading them to victory in the Hero Super Cup with an attractive style of football. He made history as the first Indian head coach to win the Hero Super Cup crown.

To fill the void left by Miranda’s departure, Odisha FC has brought in Floyd Pinto as the new assistant coach. Pinto, who previously served as the coach of Northeast United FC, took interim charge of the team at the end of the Hero ISL 2022–23 season and guided them to the semi-finals of the Hero Super Cup. Pinto has a successful track record, including coaching stints with the India U-17 and U-19 teams, as well as the Indian Arrows side. He led the junior national team to victory in the SAFF U-19 Championships.
