Travis Head reaches 5,000 International runs milestone

LEEDS – Australian middle-order batsman Travis Head achieved a significant milestone on Saturday, surpassing 5,000 international runs during the third Ashes Test against England at Headingley. Head played a crucial role in both innings, displaying his skill and resilience to guide Australia out of trouble.

In the first inning, Head played a cautious inning, scoring 39 runs off 74 deliveries. His partnership of 155 runs with Mitchell Marsh revived Australia’s innings and provided them with a solid platform. In the second inning, Head once again came to his team’s rescue, playing a gritty knock of 77 runs off 122 balls. His innings included seven boundaries and three sixes, helping Australia establish a lead of 250 runs.

Head has achieved this milestone in 111 appearances across all formats of international cricket. With a total of 5,065 runs, he boasts an impressive average of 42.20. His solid strike rate of 76.55 indicates his ability to score runs at a consistent pace. He has accumulated nine centuries and 50 half-centuries in 132 innings, with a high score of 175.

Among the various formats, Test cricket has been Head’s most successful arena. In 40 Tests, he has accumulated 2,808 runs at an average of 46.80 and a strike rate of 64.08. His Test career includes six centuries and 16 half-centuries in 65 innings, with a top score of 175.

Head has also represented Australia in 54 One-Day Internationals (ODIs), amassing 1,912 runs at an average of 40.68 in 51 innings. His strike rate of 96.81 indicates his ability to score runs quickly in the limited-overs format. He has registered three centuries and 14 half-centuries in ODIs, with a highest score of 152.

In addition, Head has played 17 Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) for Australia, scoring 345 runs at an average of 26.53. His best score in the format is an unbeaten 48, achieved at a strike rate of 133.20.
