Kochi – Cricket fans in Kochi were treated to a special occasion as they had the unique opportunity to witness the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Men’s World Cup Trophy up close on Wednesday. With the upcoming World Cup scheduled to be held in India in October and November, hundreds of cricket aficionados flocked to catch a glimpse of the coveted trophy that all ten teams will be competing for.

Apart from enthusiastic fans, members of the cricket fraternity and people from different walks of life gathered at the Malayala Manorama office in Kochi to witness the ultimate prize in men’s cricket on display. The ICC Men’s World Cup Trophy generated tremendous excitement among the crowd, highlighting the anticipation surrounding the prestigious tournament.

The trophy’s visit to Kochi is part of the three-month-long Trophy Tour, which commenced on June 27 and will cover all 18 cricket-playing nations around the world. The iconic silverware, which will be lifted by the champions at the grand finale in Ahmedabad on November 19, arrived in Kochi following its leg in Thiruvananthapuram. After Kochi, the trophy will travel to Lucknow before heading to its next destination, New Zealand, as part of the Trophy Tour.

The official inauguration of the tour took place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, where the illustrious trophy made a dramatic entrance. It was launched 12,000 feet above the earth by a balloon, capturing the imagination of cricket enthusiasts worldwide.
