Thrissur: A sightseeing excursion by Malappuram District Collector V.R. Premkumar and his team took an unexpected turn when their KSRTC bus encountered a tusker near Sholayar.
The incident unfolded late last night when a formidable elephant decided to make its presence felt, blocking the road and bringing the bus to a standstill for approximately 15 minutes. As tension mounted, forest department officials were swiftly summoned to the scene to manage the situation and ensure the safety of both the travellers and the elephant.
Collector Premdas and his entourage, consisting of 72 individuals travelling in two KSRTC buses, had embarked on a sightseeing adventure to explore the scenic beauty of the region. The unforeseen encounter with the tusker occurred as they were making their return journey from the picturesque excursion.
Notably, the area around Malakkappara is known for its encounters with wildlife, particularly wildebeests that often block vehicles. In a related incident earlier this year, wild elephants caused a stir when they ventured too close to vehicles and passengers in May. People were miraculously saved from the wildebeests attack that day.
