Food Safety and Standard Authority of India warns against using newspapers for food wrapping and packaging

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) advises against wrapping food items in newspapers. The FSSAI (Food Safety and Standards Authority of India) has advised consumers and food suppliers across the country to cease using newspapers for packaging, serving, and storing goods. The ink used in newspapers contains various bioactive substances that can have adverse effects on health, as they can contaminate food. In accordance with the Food Safety and Regulation Order of 2018, the use of newspapers for wrapping and storing food items was explicitly prohibited. FSSAI also emphasized that traders should responsibly package and serve food items, taking into consideration the well-being of consumers.
