Thiruvananthapuram: Muslim organizations in Kerala are demanding to reconsider scheduling public examinations on Fridays. The demand was raised during a recent meeting convened by the government following the appointment of members to the Minority Commission. The meeting was held under the leadership of Minister for Minority Welfare, V. Abdurahiman, last day.
The argument put forth by Muslim organizations is that conducting exams on Fridays could disrupt religious practices and special worship. Consequently, they are calling for the rescheduling of examinations originally planned for Fridays to accommodate the needs of the Muslim community. Also, they are demanding actions to resolve the ongoing seat crisis in Malabar for Plus One and Plus Two students as soon as possible.
Christian organizations have also demanded the immediate implementation of the J.B. Koshy Commission report. Allegations of delaying the report prepared for the upliftment of Christians are strong among these organizations. The government has responded by indicating its commitment to consider the concerns and demands voiced by various minority groups.
