Kochi: Actor and film star Shiyas Kareem, who was arrested in a case involving the alleged mistreatment of a young woman under the promise of marriage, has provided his statement to the police. Shiyas informed the police that he did not engage in any sexual assault against the woman and had only made a commitment to marriage. However, Shiyas disclosed that the woman was already married and had a son from that relationship, which she had concealed from him. Shiyas is scheduled to appear in the Hosdurg court at 12 noon (OCT 7).

Shiyas was arrested by the Chandera police last day in a molestation case. Upon his arrival from Dubai, he was apprehended by the police at the airport and subsequently taken into custody upon being brought to Kasargod from Chennai this morning. Shiyas has been charged with harassment, sexual assault, and financial crimes.
