Sexual harassment case: Bail granted to actor Shiyas Kareem

Kasaragod: Actor Shiyas Kareem has been granted bail in a case involving the alleged molestation of a young woman with a promise of marriage. Shiyas Kareem was granted conditional bail by the Hosdurg First Class Magistrate Court. Shiyas was detained by customs officials at Chennai airport on Friday morning and subsequently handed over to the Chandera police. His arrest was officially recorded yesterday (OCT 7 )morning.

Shiyas stated to the police that he did not engage in sexual assault and claimed that the sexual relationship was consensual. However, he also revealed that the woman had not disclosed to him that she was already married and had a child from the relationship. Shiyas also admitted to receiving Rs 5 lakh from the woman.

Shiyas, who was arrested in connection with the harassment case, is facing charges of harassment, sexual assault, and financial misconduct.
