Kottayam: The police have initiated a case following a complaint registered by the parents of a one-and-a-half-year-old child, alleging defects in taking injections at the Kottayam Government Primary Health Centre. The case has been registered against a nurse from the said health center. The complaint arises from an incident where a one-and-a-half-year-old child developed a lump on her hand shortly after receiving a vaccination.
Two months ago, Jomin-Rani’s daughter received a vaccination from the health center. Subsequently, the child developed a lump on her hand, which was later infected. The parents initially reported it to the hospital authorities, but the authorities claimed that the lump on the child’s hand was due to the family’s lack of attention.
With no action taken by the health department after their complaint, the parents decided to approach the Child Rights Commission. In response to the commission’s request, the police registered a case against the nurse.
