Palakkad: The historic Kalpathy Chariot festival (Ratholsavam) will be inaugurated today. The festival is scheduled to take place from November 7th to November 17th. Ratholsava ceremonies are conducted in accordance with the Aagama system. A joint meeting of officials from the four temples has resulted in a decision to ensure that the ceremony is carried out in an orderly and coordinated manner.

The festivities begin with the Vastubali ceremony held this evening. Tomorrow, at eight o’clock in the morning, the Ratholsavam will be held at all four temples. The flag will be first hoisted at Vishalakshi Sametha Vishwanath Temple, followed by the hoisting of flags at Manthakkara Mahaganapati Temple, Old Kalpathy Lakshminarayana Perumal Temple, and Chathapuram Prasanna Mahaganapati Temple.

During the festival days, Chaturveda recitations will be conducted by leading Vedic scholars from various states. Japahoma archana abhishekam will be performed for the temple deities, and a procession of Utsava Murthys along the chariot path will take place. On the 12th, at midnight, on the 5th Thirunal, the Pallak Rathasangama ceremonies have been arranged for public viewing.

The famous Ratholsava is scheduled for the 14th, 15th, and 16th. On these days, village processions featuring the chariots will take place. Additionally, the Devaratha Sangamam will convene on the 16th. On November 17, the Utsava Aarat and flag-lowering ceremony will take place
