Srinagar: In a horrifying incident, several houseboats were ravaged by a fire along Jammu and Kashmir’s iconic Dal lake. Fortunately, no casualties were reported. The fire is believed to have started from a houseboat at Ghat number 9 around 5:30 this morning, spreading to the neighboring boats. Five boats were completely destroyed. Authorities confirmed that the fire is now under control, but damages worth crores have been reported. Additionally, officials have rescued several tourists. The initial report suggests that a short circuit may be the cause of the fire.
The beautifully crafted wooden houseboats stand as the main attraction along the shores of Dal Lake. Meanwhile, this incident has raised concerns about the safety measures and emphasized the necessity for stricter regulations to prevent such occurrences in the future.
