Kozhikode: Action has been taken against Public Works Department officials as newly constructed Koolimad – Eranhimavu road collapsed six days after completion. Department level action will be taken against Assistant Engineer and Overseer. Apart from this, the contractor’s license will be canceled for six months.
Damage to the road started on the sixth day after the construction was completed, prompting the Vigilance to conduct an investigation into the incident. The vigilance found that tarring without proper cleaning was the reason for the collapse of the road.
Based on the report submitted by Vigilance, departmental action will be taken against Assistant Engineer Prasad and Overseer Praveen. It was also decided to transfer both of them out of the district. The license of Anil Kumar, the contractor who completed the road work, has been canceled for six months. He was also ordered to repair the damaged road at his own expense.
