Incident of threats against Judge in Ranjith Sreenivasan’s murder case; case filed against a Facebook user Ashik Umar

Ernakulam: The Vadakkekad police have filed a case against a Facebook user, Ashik Umar, for allegedly issuing threats on social media against the judge who delivered the verdict in the Ranjith Sreenivasan murder case.

Mavelikara Additional Sessions Judge VG Sridevi faced abusive language and death threats through social media, leading to the police providing security for her. The premises were guarded by five policemen, including an SI, in response to the threats on social media.

Recently, two individuals were detained in connection with the incident of threatening the judge on social media. A native of Mannanchery, Alappuzha  and a resident of Pothencode, Thiruvananthapuram, were taken into custody. The police stated that they are conducting a further investigation into the matter.
