New Delhi: The UAE Government has introduced five new digital processes for the cancellation of visas. As per the new instruction, family members’ visas are to be cancelled by the sponsor, while employee visas should be cancelled by the respective companies or employers.

Individuals cannot cancel their visas on their own. To cancel an employee’s visa, the company should first apply for cancellation of his/her employment contract and labour card at the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation. For that, the employee too should sign the application. Furthermore, an affidavit signed by the employee stating that he/she has duly received all wages and other benefits is required.

After this, the employer can apply to the Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) or General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai (GDRFA),  for visa cancellation.

For more information, visit: https://icp.gov.ae/

Individuals can cancel their visa only after the visa cancellation process of the family members or other dependents is completed.

Visas can be cancelled online via the official website of ICP or through approved typing centres. Persons will be allowed to stay in the country only if the visa is renewed before it expires. If anyone continues to stay there without renewing their visa after the expiry date, they will be fined 50 Dirhams per day.

It is also mandatory that the application for visa cancellation be submitted to the ICP before it expires.
