New Delhi: International Astronomical Union (IAU) has named a minor planet after Pandit Jasraj, a rare and a universal honour.
Minor Planet 2006 VP32 (Number – 300128) discovered on November 11, 2006, has been named as ‘Panditjasraj.’
The planet ‘Panditjasraj’ orbits between Mars and Jupiter.
This was made official by IAU on September 23, 2019, followed by a Citation.
Indeed its a proud moment for India as Pandit Jasraj became the first Indian Musician to follow the galaxy of immortal composers such as Mozart, Beethoven and Tenor Luciano Pavarotti.
