Mumbai: Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan has been hospitalized following a colon infection, his spokesperson said on Tuesday.
The 53-year-old actor has been admitted to the intensive care unit of Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai. His hospitalization comes just three days after the actor lost his mother Saeeda Begum in Jaipur. However, due to the ongoing lockdown, the actor could not physically attend his mother’s last rites and reportedly paid his last respects through video conferencing.
” Yes, it is true that Irrfan Khan is admitted to ICU at Kokilaben in Mumbai because of a colon infection. We would keep everyone updated. He is under doctor’s observation,” his spokesperson said in a statement as reported by IANS.
“His strength and courage have helped him battle and fight so far and we are sure with his tremendous willpower and prayers of all his well-wishers, he will recover soon,” the statement added.
Khan, in 2018 was diagnosed with neoroendocrine tumour, a rare form of cancer that can affect various parts of the body and has been under medical treatment for the same.
In 2019. he shot for ‘Angrezi Medium’ and hit the theatres in March just before the lockdown began on March 25.
