Bengaluru: In a shocking incident, three priests of a temple in Mandya district have been killed by a gang of robbers while robbing the shrine. The priests who were sleeping inside the temple were hacked to death with stones and boulders on Thursday night.
According to the police, the robbers fled with the currency in the donation box after killing the priests of Arakeshwara temple.
Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa said, “It is very disturbing to learn that the priests of the Arakeshwara temple in Mandya Ganesh, Prakash and Anand have been murdered by the burglars.”
“A compensation of Rs 5 lakh per family of slain temple priests will be given. Immediate legal action will be initiated against the guilty,” he added.
