Fazilka (Punjab): In a successful joint operation between the Punjab Police and the Border Security Force (BSF), approximately 2.5 kgs of suspected narcotics were seized in the Fazilka district of Punjab. The illicit substances were recovered after being dropped by a Pakistani drone on Thursday.

The BSF issued a statement indicating that the operation was launched in response to specific intelligence they received. A joint search operation was launched, and several houses in Chakkhewa village were thoroughly searched. The diligent efforts of the security forces led to the discovery and confiscation of the contraband from an individual’s house.

The case has been registered, and further investigations are currently underway to determine the source and intended destination of the narcotics. This latest event emphasises the ongoing threat presented by cross-border smuggling activities as well as the importance of continuing vigilance and collaboration among law enforcement authorities.

It is worth noting that a similar operation took place on May 29, when the BSF, in collaboration with the Punjab Police, seized around four kgs of suspected narcotics dropped by a Pakistani drone in the Taran Taran district. These coordinated efforts demonstrate the commitment of the security forces to curb the flow of illegal substances and maintain peace and security in the region.

The authorities are determined to strengthen their efforts to identify and neutralise the networks involved in such unlawful activities, with the ultimate goal of safeguarding the welfare of the communities residing in these areas.
