Washington DC: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said his government’s goal is to make this decade a ‘techade’, adding that the central government has launched a ‘Start-Up India’ mission to encourage young entrepreneurs.

Addressing the ‘Skilling for Future’ event at the National Science Foundation, PM Modi said, “We have established around 10,000 Atal Tinkering Labs in schools wherein children are being provided with all kinds of facilities for various types of innovations. To encourage young entrepreneurs, we started the ‘Start Up India’ mission. Our goal is to make this decade a techade-tech decade.”

PM Modi also stressed the need for a talent pipeline between India and the United States. He acknowledged the exceptional educational institutions and advanced technologies in the US while emphasising that India possesses the world’s largest youth factory.

Meanwhile, US First Lady Jill Biden said education is the cornerstone of the bond between India and the United States. She highlighted the importance of providing young people with the opportunities they deserve. The First Lady shared these views during her visit alongside PM Modi to the National Science Foundation in Alexandria, Virginia, where they both attended the ‘Skilling for Future’ event.
